What is frequency regulation with energy storage?

Thanks to the possibility to make your solar energy available against FCR or FFR, your investment in a PV system can be more economically beneficial in combination with battery storage.

In short, the frequency of our electricity network depends on the balance between production and consumption of electricity in the country. If the electricity network loses the balance between these factors, there is a risk of power outages and in the current energy climate, where capacity deficiencies in the electricity transmission from north to south are noticeable to the general public through differences in the price of electricity geographically, the electricity network sometimes needs to be supported by power reserves. This is where the public and actors with a large share of stored energy at their disposal have the opportunity to assist Svenska Kraftnät in its mission to maintain a stable and reliable electricity supply.

By supplementing your investment in solar cells with energy storage, you as a company can be part of the frequency regulation market, through FFR (Fast Frequency Reserve) and FCR (Frequency Containment Reserve). Then you make your energy storage available to the electricity grid and can thus contribute to stabilizing the electricity grid when needed.

Investments in energy storage with a connection to the frequency regulation market are currently very lucrative and can be combined with your solar energy investments, especially through our Greentech-As-A-Service business model. Then we take overall responsibility for everything from the delivery of your green technology to frequency trading with Svenska Kraftnät on an ongoing basis.
