"Here you don't just get an office, you get a block." That is how Bonnier Fastigheter describes Muninhuset, the real estate company's second acquisition and first major new construction venture in central Uppsala.
They acquired the building, located a stone's throw from the train station and right next to the Fyris River, in 2018 as part of the effort to become a long-term property owner in the historic university city.
Since the acquisition, we have systematically reviewed and upgraded the building, from technical systems to creating a full-service house for our tenants with reception, restaurant, conference and lounge. We are currently completing the new construction of Munin NXT, which is a detached office building adjacent to Muninhuset, says Sara Björnberg, Head of Sustainable Development at Bonnier Fastigheter.

And there is no compromise in terms of quality. The building is currently environmentally certified with Breeam In Use and they are also in a process to reach an even higher certification level. That alone reveals that the project has sustainability as its main focus - and the keywords sustainability and quality also rhyme well with SBP.

Sustainability at the highest level

In collaboration with Bonnier, SBP has contributed a solar panel system with a plant capacity of 256 kW. The plant has, apart from the usual parts in SBP packaging such as increased system security and digitized monitoring, been built with the market's best components and is something that can guarantee that the building can be powered by green energy for decades to come.
– Investing in such a large plant and putting it in relation to the fact that it is located centrally in a major Swedish city is, to say the least, impressive, says Marcus Wicén, Head of Sales Development at SBP, and continues:

– It is also an effort that is incredibly important for the city. In Uppsala, the electricity grid is highly loaded, and through this plant, Bonnier contributes to relieving the local grid, which helps enormously.

"Values social responsibility"

The historic Bonnier has owned properties in the Stockholm area since the mid-1800s and for them it is important to place high demands on sustainable values among their partners. Something that SBP was able to live up to, according to Sara Björnberg.
– As a long-term family-owned company, we value personal relationships and that our partners take great responsibility both in current projects but also in society at large. The fact that SBP allocates part of the profit to charity and takes an active social responsibility is something we value. We are very satisfied with our collaboration with SBP.
