Stena Fastigheter – a partnership driving large-scale energy transition

We have completed over 50 projects for Stena Fastigheter as part of a long-term partnership
SBP has delivered some 50 solar power plants and energy storage facilities with a combined production capacity of several megawatts—and has played a pivotal role in Stena Fastigheter’s green transition

Since 2020, SBP and Stena Fastigheter have built a close partnership with a shared goal: to accelerate the transition to renewable energy in their property portfolios. What began as individual installations has, over time, evolved into a partnership characterized by continuity, growing project volumes, and increasingly complex deliverables.

During the first few years, 15 solar panel installations were completed, with a total installed capacity of 1,079 kWp, as well as three energy storage solutions totaling 180 kW. These projects laid the foundation for a working method in which structure, quality, and clear project management have been central to implementation.

The collaboration culminated in 2025 with the largest joint project to date:
38 solar panel installations spread across seven areas in Stockholm and Uppsala—Luthagen, Ängby Park, Jakobsberg, Sköndal, Haninge, Vega, and Bredäng. The total installed capacity amounts to 1,391 kWp.

Carrying out installations on this scale, across multiple geographic areas and municipalities simultaneously, places high demands on planning, coordination, and implementation capacity. Within the framework of the project, SBP has been responsible for the entire process—from building permits and preliminary notifications to completed and inspected facilities.

– We have managed all 40 properties, from building permits and preliminary notifications to the final inspections. “Considering that there were so many installations across properties in several different municipalities happening simultaneously, the delivery was incredibly well-structured, thanks to both our dedicated contacts at Stena Fastigheter and SBP’s experience with this type of comprehensive delivery,” says Josefine Pettersson, project manager at SBP, regarding the latest deliveries, and continues:“We have built a solid structure together and a shared understanding of how we want to work. This allows us to continuously develop our collaboration and deliver even better results,” says Josefine Pettersson.

For Stena Fastigheter, this initiative is part of a broader strategic effort aimed at becoming electricity-neutral by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. Investments in solar energy are a central part of that plan, and the company already generates several gigawatt-hours of its own electricity each year.

The collaboration with SBP has therefore not been limited to individual projects, but has focused on gradually building the capacity and infrastructure needed for a more comprehensive energy transition. Alexander Backström, who has been involved in the collaboration for several years, highlights the relationship between the companies as a key factor:

“Over the years, we’ve always had a very good dialogue, largely because we’re on the same page in many respects when it comes to sustainability and quality,” he says.

With over 2.4 MW of installed solar capacity within the partnership and one of the largest projects completed in 2025, the partnership continues to grow. For Stena Fastigheter, this represents a concrete step toward its climate goals—and for SBP, it is clear proof of its ability to deliver on both a broad and large scale.
