The electricity network in sweden is heavily congested and capacity is poorly distributed between north and south. "Solar electricity and batteries are growing rapidly and can therefore become an important complementary part of the solution.

We have much of our power generation in the north and limited transmission capacity to the south where usage is greatest. This is what Anna Werner, CEO of Svensk Solenergi, sees about a fundamental problem in the Swedish electricity network.
Her solution is clear: the electricity grid must be relieved by green technology.
"Strengthening the electricity grid is important, but it takes a long time. Solar electricity and batteries grow rapidly and can therefore become an important complementary part of the solution. There are international examples of how large battery storage is used to successfully balance the electricity grid," says Anna Werner.

Wants PV support back for companies

She goes on to say that the government should reintroduce PV subsidies for businesses. Solar cells for companies should be a good investment and help ease a burden like the one last summer, which led to the temporary start of the oil-fired Karlshamnsverket.
"Solel alone could not have solved the problems we saw this summer, but well together with batteries. It is therefore a pity that the government has withdrawn PV subsidies for companies so quickly. The Government should again decide to provide 10% PV support for investments in PV installations and to replenish funds so that all companies that have applied for PV support also receive it in 2021.
