Bauhaus gets one of Uppsala's largest solar power plants

January 20, 2026
From this summer, Bauhaus in Uppsala will be able to harvest summer production of solar energy through their new solar power plant. As part of a complete delivery from SBP, the department store will have one of Uppsala's largest roof installations.

At the end of February, the installation of Bauhaus' solar panel system began at the department store in Uppsala, just a stone's throw from the E4 highway. It is a 500 kW system, where the panels are currently being mounted on the roof. While waiting for the unexpected snowfall of spring to thaw, work on the cabling will be completed and the entire system is expected to be ready for inspection by the end of April.
– We had expected the weather to cause problems, so we are completely on schedule. I am grateful that I was handed over a very well-designed facility by our System Design department, and this, in combination with good cooperation with our contacts from Bauhaus, has made the project run very smoothly, says Linda Axwik, Project Manager at SBP.

In May, inspection of the facility, which upon completion will be one of Uppsala's largest rooftop installations, will begin, after which Bauhaus will be able to operate on solar energy from the most productive part of the year.
– From an environmental perspective, it is becoming increasingly important for customers that their suppliers have a positive attitude towards the green transition. Thanks to this investment, Bauhaus has demonstrated its commitment to taking a strong environmental stance, which will serve as a role model for others, both nationally and perhaps especially locally, as they are such a major player in the retail sector, concludes Linda Axwik.
