The government and suppliers fundamentally want the same thing: to create common payment solutions and technical platforms for charging electric cars. This is what DN writes in an article after a meeting between Minister for Energy and Digitalisation Anders Ygeman and various charging suppliers. But there is still some distance between them on how it should be implemented.
– The result of the meeting was a step in the right direction, but an insufficient one. We must continue to work and come up with a simple way for electric car drivers to buy electricity at public charging stations with a common means of payment. Three, seven, nine apps in the mobile should not be needed, says Anders Ygeman to DN.
"Don't have the same description of reality"
His goal is for payment with regular credit cards at charging stations, and without the use of different apps, to become a reality before the end of the year. But Pär Möller, who is a representative for the entire industry, would like to see a more digital solution.
– As an industry, we have a positive dialogue with Anders Ygeman. But we do not always have the same description of reality - we see that our customers largely use apps as a means of payment, and to a lesser extent credit cards, he says to DN.
Something both the government and the suppliers agreed on at the meeting is the value of creating an industry organization for actors in electric car charging.
Used credit card solution for several years
At SBP, the development and challenges surrounding payment solutions for charging stations have been monitored for a number of years. Andreas Backström, CEO of SBP, explains that they identified the challenges early on and have therefore developed a credit card solution for many customers.
– We at SBP have seen that our customers have requested simplicity and independence when it comes to charging possibilities, both for staff and visitors. Therefore, two years ago, we launched a completely independent charging solution that means anyone can stop and charge in a public place. The only requirement is access to a credit card and mobile phone at the time of charging, but neither an app nor a customer account is required to charge your electric car.
