When Skärholmen Centrum was inaugurated by Prince Bertil in 1968, it was the country's largest suburban center. Since then, the shopping center south of Stockholm, also known as SKHLM, has continued to be at the forefront.
SBP was commissioned by the owner, Grosvenor Group, to deliver a solar energy system where the choice of equipment was made with care, especially with regard to technology with high safety functionality.
The delivery is based on the SBP package Co-operation (read more about it here). This means that we at SBP take the initial investment and thus both economic and quality responsibility during the entire contract period. This also includes analysis, operation and support to ensure that the facility produces what has been promised.
The facility has been running since October and provides excellent values entirely according to calculations.
– It is fantastic that Grosvenor Group, as the owner of SKHLM, chooses to operate the property on solar energy. As a larger shopping center in a larger municipality, the facility will provide a signal value to other property owners and drive the green transition, says Alexander Backström, project manager at SBP.
The 1230 panels have an estimated production of 387,000 kWh per year. The solar panels are mounted facing east and west, which provides better aerodynamics and thus puts less stress on the roof. In addition, it provides a slightly better distribution of energy production over the day.
– We and Grosvenor have jointly chosen a system that creates good production while keeping the self-consumption sufficiently low. A successful project where we were able to tick off Grosvenor's wishes. Since we at SBP, as usual, have chosen technology with high safety functionality, it feels extra good when it is, after all, a shopping center with many daily visitors.
