For 80 minutes, the city of Onslow in Australia was 100 per cent powered by renewable energy using innovative micronet technology. This is what PV-tech, an international news site on sustainable energy, writes in an article.
It is the first time Australia has used similar technology, which according to the news site is based on a distributed energy resource system with the acronym DERMS. The system uses predictive analysis to maximize the amount of renewable energy used in the grid and also to strengthen network stability.
Wants to take technology out into the world
Patrick Lee, managing director of PXiSE Energy Solutions, one of the players behind the project, says in the article that the project in Onslow demonstrably shows the potential for communities to be able to operate entirely on solar energy.
"The technology has broad applications for the whole world," he says.
Further tests will be carried out to ensure that the operation of green energy continues to be carried out in the city later this year, which is the goal of the project. The primary goal of the tests is to increase understanding of the potential of technology and eventually let it be the main source of energy in the cities of the future.
