SBP is currently completing another solar panel project for Uppsala Akademiförvaltning (UAF), which manages properties and agricultural estates in and around Uppsala. UAF has a long history of managing properties with connections to Uppsala University and other educational institutions, making them an important player for the city's cultural heritage and property stock.
This time, SBP is working on two buildings with high cultural and historical value along the Fyris River, in the heart of central Uppsala. The buildings, which were built during the 19th century, also reflect the city's history as a center for academia and culture. Their proximity to both Uppsala University and the cathedral has made them an important part of academic life and the city's identity for several centuries.
– This project is unique, as the historical buildings require great care and precision during the installation of the solar panels, explains Milos Dinic, project manager at SBP.
The work began during the summer of 2024 and the project is expected to be ready for operation in early October.
Careful planning has been crucial, as the roof surfaces vary in slope and the project's location in central Uppsala has required adaptation to traffic and limited street space.
