Samhällsmatchen is an initiative by Hammarby Fotboll to strengthen social sustainability in society. SBP is one of several actors who share this commitment. – We want to show that opportunities exist, says Marcus Wicén.

– For us, sustainability is an extremely prioritized issue, or whatever superlative you want to use. While we primarily talk about energy and sustainability from an environmental perspective, we believe social sustainability is just as important, says Marcus Wicén at SBP.

He recently represented SBP at the Karriärdagen job fair, organized by Samhällsmatchen. It is an initiative from Hammarby Fotboll, whose commitment lies in social issues where the category "employment" is one of three main values. It should enable job seekers, including those from vulnerable areas, to find new jobs. On the Samhällsmatchen website, you can read: "Having meaningful employment in the form of work or studies is, for most people, a prerequisite for feeling part of society."

Together with giant corporations, they want to create opportunities for others.

Klövern, Volkswagen, Telia, and Coca Cola are just some of the companies participating, and Sustainable Business Partner, together with Stockholm Exergi, appeared in the web-TV program to discuss sustainability.

– The big part is about opening doors and creating opportunities that many people may not think exist. I come from the southern suburbs myself, and I know that there are many young people who think they cannot get a job in the city. We want to show that the opportunities exist. Having a different type of background does not mean that you cannot get a job you really want. It is an issue that I am personally very passionate about, says Marcus Wicén.

SBP has a long-standing commitment to sustainability issues of all kinds. Each year, ten percent of the company's profits go directly to charity, and they have also made similar investments in social sustainability. One example is "Handball School for All", a youth activity organized by OV Handball in Helsingborg (Read more about it by clicking here).

Personal commitment: "There is a place for everyone"

The Greentech industry is growing enormously, and so is SBP. This means that future employment needs will only increase, and Marcus Wicén believes that more parameters than prior knowledge and education are decisive.
– Both sales and project management are areas where we almost always have a recruitment need. We have had very strong organic growth throughout the pandemic, and that is not something that looks to be decreasing in either the short or long term, he says and continues:

– If we look at sales, it is a very individual-driven role. Sure, it involves complex processes, and it places very high demands in our industry. With that said, we see that there is a place for everyone, whether someone is in their upper middle age or someone has just started their career. What is most important in the area is the individual, and that is what will also be decisive in the end.

Samhällsmatchen's other two values are Health and Equality. SBP is also heavily involved in these, and Marcus Wicén believes that they are cornerstones of their own business.
– Equality is a non-issue today. All work groups benefit from being diversified. If everyone is the same, there is a problem in that everyone has the same perspective. Regarding health, work-life balance is something we often talk about here at SBP. We work hard, but in order to do that, everything else must work, such as health, diet, and life outside the workplace. These are the keys to being a happy, and therefore high-performing, individual.
