In the last seven months, the number of pre-registrations of solar cells has increased by 36 percent compared to 2020, svensk Solenergi writes. This would mean a 52% increase for the full year if the trend continues.

In May this year, 3500 pre-registrations for PV installations were made to the electricity companies, which is the peak for 2021 so far. If the first seven months of the year add up, the figure is around 19,000 pre-registrations - which is 36 per cent higher than the corresponding period last year.

Over the past two years, the number of installations has followed a linear trend," Svensk Solenergi writes in a press release. Should the trend continue this year, this would mean that the number of installations would increase by 52 percent from the previous year. In addition, the number of PV installations in the country would exceed 100 000 in total.

Fewer installations during the extreme heat

However, the pace was slowed by something during the summer, which is a trend that Svensk Solenergi has been able to read even during the previous year.
"This can be explained by the extreme heat that caused some individuals to choose to go on holiday and postpone or bring their installations up. July was a weaker month last year and the previous year than April to June," the association wrote in the press release.

The survey was compiled by keeping statistics for three electricity companies, which together account for 60% of the market and, through these figures, produced an average for the entire market.
