Green Transition Initiative. This is the name of Sweden's latest climate export, which will use Swedish innovations to find cooperation opportunities to contribute to the US's green transition.

In Washington and Silicon Valley, the Swedish climate project Green Transition Initiative will contribute with Swedish research and innovation to strengthen cooperation with the US in climate work. The assignment includes monitoring US policy developments and finding new opportunities for collaboration for Swedish universities and government agencies. It will also act as a marketing tool for Swedish innovations.

The Green Transition Initiative is an initiative of the Swedish Energy Agency, the innovation agency Vinnova and the organisation Business Sweden, which works on behalf of the Swedish government.
- California is a huge economy and California has a lot of ambitions of its own and is literally crying out to cooperate more with Sweden. Those who live in Silicon Valley and see the world from there are extremely interested in cooperating with Sweden because they see us as the cutting edge, says Jan Larsson, CEO of Business Sweden, to DI.

Sweden has a good international reputation

President Joe Biden has announced ambitious climate goals and Sweden has been a close partner with the US in green technology and innovation. The Swedish Energy Agency writes in a press release that the new initiative aims to further strengthen the cooperation.
- Sweden is one of the most advanced and innovative countries in green technology, energy efficiency and fossil-free industry, and we have a lot to contribute to the global energy transition. With the cooperation in the Green Transition Initiative, we are supporting innovative Swedish products and solutions with energy relevance at home," says Robert Andrén, Director General of the Swedish Energy Agency, in the press release.

Operations are expected to start in the coming summer.
