Together with SBP, Vrena Mekaniska Verkstad has installed an energy storage of 312.5 kW, packed in a 10-foot container. The energy storage complements the 273 kW solar cell system that was previously installed and becomes an important piece of the puzzle in the company's long-term climate work.
- This initiative is a really good example of how industry can combine sustainability with social benefits. Through the energy storage, Vrena Mekaniska contributes to a more stable and robust electricity grid, and in the long term they have the opportunity to gain greater control over their own energy use. It is an investment that really shows forward thinking and sustainable responsibility for the green transition," says Johan Braunerhielm, project manager at SBP.
Strengthening both business and the grid
Vrena Mekaniska Verkstad AB has its roots in Bettna outside Flen and was founded back in 1957. The workshop's slogan "You design - we manufacture" reflects its solid expertise in welding, machining, surface treatment and assembly.
With its broad workshop expertise and local roots, Vrena Mekaniska shows that it is possible to combine traditional manufacturing with modern sustainability. The solar cell plant contributes clean kilowatt hours to production and the addition of energy storage gives the company the flexibility to store energy when needed, which strengthens operational reliability both for them and the surrounding electricity grid, both today and in the long term.
- The solar plant already produces electricity for the business and the surplus is exported to the grid. By adding energy storage to the grid, it makes Vrena Mekaniska Verkstad a contributor to society, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions and taking important steps towards its climate goals," says Johan.
